Scaffold Towers — Aluminium & GRP

When you need secure, elevated access for painting, glazing, maintenance, or installation, Mark One Hire offers an exceptional choice of scaffold towers, including mobile scaffold towers, narrow scaffold towers, aluminium towers, and stairway scaffolding networks. Picking between aluminium and GRP (fibreglass) models comes down to the specific demands of your environment. And we can help you make the right choice.

Our range of scaffold towers are available to hire in both recommended assembly methods; 3T (Through the Trap) and the Advanced Guardrail System. At Mark One we have aluminium and fibreglass towers in both standard and narrow widths. Our range also includes cantilever towers, stairwell towers and lift shaft towers.

Aluminium Towers

Aluminium scaffold towers are the most widely used option. They are lightweight and designed for quick assembly and dismantling, helping you get to work faster and move towers between zones efficiently. Their corrosion-resistant nature makes them ideal for indoor or outdoor use, even in damp environments.

They are strong enough to support tools, multiple workers, or materials, yet compact for tight spaces. Our range includes guardrail models, easy-climb rungs, and lockable wheels for secure mobility. As aluminium conducts electricity, it should never be used near live circuits or power sources. If you’re working near power cables, choose a GRP model.

GRP (Fibreglass) Towers

GRP scaffold towers, also known as fibreglass scaffolding, offer a non-conductive structure that is essential when working near electricity. Our GRP towers keep you safe on projects involving power lines, electrics, or utilities by preventing electrical transfer through the frame.

They also resist corrosion and chemical damage better than aluminium, making our GRP scaffold towers a dependable choice for harsh environments like coastal sites, chemical plants, and cleanrooms.

However, GRP towers are heavier and the added weight can make setup and transport slightly more challenging.

Choosing Your Scaffolding Tower

  • Choose an aluminium tower if you want fast setup, strong portability, and general-purpose access across interiors or exteriors—especially when mobility and lightweight performance matter most.
  • Go with a GRP tower when electrical safety, corrosion resistance, and non-conductive structure are critical. This option is ideal for rail maintenance, electrical work, petrochemical industries, or controlled environments.

At Mark One Hire, we deliver towers clean, maintained, and on time. Our team is ready to answer your questions and offer helpful advice. If required, our training division can support you with complementary training—whether it’s PASMA, IPAF, or IOSH.

Scaffold Towers (Ali & GRP) - FAQs

What are the key differences between aluminium and GRP scaffold towers?

Aluminium towers are lightweight, easy to move, quickly assembled, and resistant to rust. GRP towers are non-conductive and corrosion-resistant, making them safer near power or in harsh environments.

When should I opt for a GRP scaffold tower?

Use GRP when electrical safety is a concern or in corrosive environments like chemical plants or coastal locations.

Are GRP towers harder to move than aluminium ones?

They are heavier, so they may be slightly harder to manoeuvre, but our range of modern designs still allows for portability.

Do both types meet safety standards?

We ensure our equipment is safe, well maintained, and inspected before hire, as well as meeting Working at Height Regulations requirements.

Can you provide training for using scaffold towers?

You can get technical support from our hire desk and we can organise PASMA or IPAF training through our dedicated training company.
